UNI Update – Newsletter article from Chris Porter at UNI

Summer is officially here and things haven’t slowed down a bit!  We have just finished a very emotional semester, about half of our CCF at UNI group graduated -- the saddest part of campus ministry.  Meanwhile, I have been preparing to dean a week of Church camp in July.

Many of those who graduated have been instrumental in helping CCF at UNI grow into a vital and spiritual campus ministry.  Two of the founding members (Jenn K. and Matt N.) have finished up their master’s degrees (they say they’re done with school for awhile).  Several of our key leaders (Kimberly and Dan B., Beth K., and Bethany N.) are leaving a pretty large hole to be filled by new students.  A couple of our international students (Jasper D. and Trinity N.) have graduated or will graduate in August.  This is especially sad because they were so involved and helped shape the dynamics of our group.

The other major event that brought significant change (in a positive way) to the group was our Spring Break trip to Shiloh Children’s Ranch in Missouri.  This was a very different trip from others I’ve taken because we spent two days in St. Louis touring around before we went to our mission project.  This was a great opportunity for some Christian fellowship between our "veteran" students and our "rookies" while still doing some Christian service.  My prayer is that the results of this trip will help our newer students take on leadership roles come this fall.

As you are reading this, CCF will have just finished working with about 90 kids at one of Iowa’s church camps.  All three campuses are sending representatives to participate during the week to really help high school students see the need to be involved in campus ministry or Bible college.  Then, during the first week of August, students will be going to the national Student Leadership Conference to get them ready for another school year dedicated to God.

Thank you for your prayers and support and helping us serve your children at our state universities.
